See the book, watch the movie! A new feature of the Hutchison Library Blog is our link to recommended videos. We will update the links on a regular basis to keep you coming back for more. There are three different types of video links: Digital Book Talks, Movie Trailers, and "Just for Fun" Library Stuff.
Hopefully, the Digital Book Talks will get you thinking about making your own movies as Book Trailers. If you are interested, check out the site, www.digitalbooktalks.com to learn about how you can make your own movies about books. See the tab called "UB Director." The first dbt is about Esperanza Rising, by Pam Munoz Ryan. I read the book this past summer and loved it!
The Movie Trailers in i-Tunes can be downloaded to your i-pod or your computer. Of course, since we are a library, the trailers all feature movies that are adapted from...you guessed it, BOOKS! This week's trailer features Roald Dahl's genius book, The Fantastic Mr. Fox. After watching the book trailer, I can't wait to re-read the book and then see the movie!
The third category of videos we will link is called "Just for Fun." I thought we would start out with everyone's favorite cat lately, Dewey. Hopefully, the library will be receiving a copy of the book for checkout soon. Until then, you won't want to miss this touching story about a kitten who was dropped in the return box of a public library one cold winter night....

The Hunger Games: A Love Triangle

In addition to being a fast-paced, imaginative thriller set in the future, Suzanne Collins' Trilogy, The Hunger Games, features a love triangle between the Katniss, Peeta, and Gale. I've read Books One and Two of the trilogy, and I still can't decide which boy Katniss will choose. Will she choose the kind, loyal, eloquent, and brave Peeta? Or will she choose her best friend and hunting companion Gale? My personal choice is Gale: I believe she loves him from the deepest part of her soul. Lots of teens say they prefer Peeta, though, because he's everything a boyfriend should be.
